Casteltermini is a small inland town in the province area of Agrigento,

It was founded in 1629 by Vincenzo Maira Termini e Ferreri

Once its economy was based on sulphur mining. Since when the mines have been closed unemployment has compelled many inhabitants to emigrate.

FAIRS AND RELIGIOUS FEASTS

The feast dedicated to the Holy Cross is the most important religious event of Casteltermini.

This feast takes place on the fourth Sunday of May every year.

In that occasion local people perform the very interesting Taratà dance.

The MOTHER CHURCH started to be built in 1629 and contains interesting paintings.

SS.COSMA AND DAMIANO CHURCH better known as PURGATORIO
